Volleyball Recap: Dimond Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with South Anchorage

Dimond faced South Anchorage in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Lynx fell 2-0 to the Wolverines. The Lynx haven't had much luck with the Wolverines recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Dimond was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made South Anchorage work for it, especially in the second set. The final score came out to 25-20, 26-24.

Anayah Sila paced Dimond's offense, picking up five kills. Sila got some help from Puao Asailevai and her 11 assists. Ailafo Fautanu controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Dimond's loss dropped their record down to 27-11-1. As for South Anchorage, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 25 of their last 26 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 35-3-1 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Dimond will face off against rival Eagle River at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, South Anchorage is set to challenge their familiar foe Service at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
