Football Recap: Salome Skates Past Fort Thomas with Ease

Salome's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They blew past the Fort Thomas Apaches, posting a 66-24 win. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-16.

Chris Smith had a dynamite game, rushing for 155 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 11 carries. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 74-yard run. Another player making a difference was Tyler Avila, who rushed for 94 yards and one score on only 11 carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Salome was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 408 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.

Salome didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Alan Barber picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Salome now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Fort Thomas, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Looking ahead, Salome will take on Mohave Accelerated at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Frogs' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Fort Thomas, they will face off against Joseph City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
