Kearney's loss ends three-game winning streak on the road

Recap: Kearney Bearcats vs. Pius X Thunderbolts

The Kearney Bearcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. The game between them and Pius X wasn't particularly close, with Kearney falling 49-32. If Kearney was looking for revenge after losing 54-40 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Kearney's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kennidy Garner, who scored eight points.

Sara Iburg was her usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with seven rebounds for Pius X. The team also got some help courtesy of Brynn Sebek, who scored 13 points.

Kearney's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-8. As for Pius X, they pushed their record up to 10-6 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Kearney will take on the Bears at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Bryan comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 11 points in their last 14 games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Pius X, they will head out on the road to challenge the Navigators at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln North Star is coming into the match hot, having won their last seven games.
