Baseball Recap: Barstow Takes a Loss

Friday just wasn't the day for Barstow's offense. They fell just short of the Adelanto Saints by a score of 2-0 on Friday. The Aztecs haven't had much luck with the Saints recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Robert Shipley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits. Barstow is 3-1 when Shipley allows one or fewer earned runs, but 3-8 otherwise.

At the plate, Barstow saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kekoa Samples, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Barstow's record now sits at 6-9. As for Adelanto, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-8 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Barstow will venture away from home to take on Victor Valley at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Adelanto, they will head out to square off against Woodcrest Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
