Basketball Recap: Southern Takes a Loss

Southern saw some tournament action on Saturday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 34-33 to the Eleanor Roosevelt Raiders. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Southern saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Huntyr Marks posted 17 points. That was a full 51.5% of Southern's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of La'Ren Watkins, who had eight points.

Southern's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Eleanor Roosevelt, they moved to 3-4 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Southern will host Arundel at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Southern is facing Arundel at the right time seeing as Arundel is stuck on a five-game losing streak. Eleanor Roosevelt has already played their next contest, a 47-40 defeat against Howard on the 28th.
