Streamwood and South Elgin are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Sabres will head out to challenge the Storm at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

Streamwood is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Riverside-Brookfield just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs.

Meanwhile, South Elgin came tearing into Thursday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Wildcats as they made off with a 14-6 win. Considering the Storm have won 11 matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Ryan Mirante was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Aiden Bernau, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

South Elgin's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-9. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Streamwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-12.

Streamwood might still be hurting after the 8-0 loss they got from South Elgin in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Sabres avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
