Preview: Marbury Bulldogs vs. Chilton County Tigers
Marbury and Chilton County are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The Marbury Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Chilton County Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marbury will be strutting in after a win while Chilton County will be coming in after a defeat.
Marbury entered their tilt with Elmore County with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Marbury came out on top against Elmore County by a score of 50-38 on Thursday.
DJ Graham was his usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with six rebounds and four steals. He hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Jacob Driver, who scored seven points along with 16 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Chilton County fought the good fight in their overtime game against Calera on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 66-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Marbury's win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-9. As for Chilton County, they bumped their record down to 12-14 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Marbury and Chilton County were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, but Marbury came up empty-handed after a 52-51 loss. Can Marbury avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
