Rosemount and Farmington are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Irish will head out to face off against the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Rosemount is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games dating back to last season.
On Saturday, it was close, but Rosemount sidestepped Hastings for a 5-4 victory.
Jorey Fry was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Harper Chappuis was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Ella Erickson, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Farmington faced off against Lakeville North on Friday. The Tigers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Panthers a 7-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won five in a row.
The result came thanks to Kayla Schweich's shutout, as she gave up just a hit.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kayley Schuenemann, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Madison Westover was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Rosemount's victory was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Farmington, their record now sits at 2-0.
Rosemount came up short against Farmington in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 5-1. Can the Irish avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
