Baseball Recap: Rancocas Valley Drops Season-High Score on Clearview

Rancocas Valley had lost three games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 7-7 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They came out on top against the Clearview Pioneers by a score of 14-10. The Red Devils' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The team relied heavily on Jaylen Alvarez, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Liam Young, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one double.

Rancocas Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

As for Clearview, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-3 record this season. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this matchup were averaging three runs allowed.

On Clearview's side, they got a good showing from Alex Salimena, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits.

On the hitting side, Sawyer Wood was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Ryan Battista was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
