Softball Game Preview: Santa Fe Demons vs. Eldorado Eagles

The Santa Fe Demons are taking a road trip to square off against the Eldorado Eagles at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Santa Fe has given up an average of 9.2 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Santa Fe's last matchup with La Cueva could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Saturday. The Demons lost 12-1 to the Bears. The Demons haven't had much luck with the Bears recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Santa Fe saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabriella Chavez, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Eldorado never let their opponents score on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over Manzano. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Monarchs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Myka Gallegos and Alyssa Martinez did most of the damage at the plate: Gallegos went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Martinez got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits Gallegos has posted since back in February. Leena England was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Eldorado hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive matchups.

Santa Fe's defeat dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Eldorado, their record is now 11-14.

Santa Fe suffered a grim 9-3 defeat to Eldorado when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can the Demons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
