Baseball Recap: Cypress Bay's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Cypress Bay came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with seven straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Coral Reef Barracudas by a score of 10-5.

Logan Jorcin looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Cypress Bay got a massive performance out of Santiago Sanchez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Diego Baron was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Cypress Bay was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Cypress Bay pushed their record up to 13-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. As for Coral Reef, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cypress Bay will challenge West Broward at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The game will give Cypress Bay their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Coral Reef, they will take on Sunset at 3:30 p.m. on April 3.
