Softball Recap: Fairmont Senior Comes Up Short

Fairmont Senior lost against Buckhannon-Upshur back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Polar Bears took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Buccaneers.

Michaela Egidi spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits.

Fairmont Senior's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Buckhannon-Upshur, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-5 record this season.

Fairmont Senior will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Doddridge County at 6:00 p.m. The Polar Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 10.7 runs per game this season. As for Buckhannon-Upshur, they will host Woodrow Wilson at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Flying Eagles will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Buccaneers surely won't give up without a fight.
