Basketball Recap: Harnett Central Trojans vs. Triton Hawks
Harnett Central lost against Triton back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Trojans fell 65-60 to the Hawks. The Trojans were up 31-15 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Despite the loss, Harnett Central still got an impressive performance from Rylan Beasley, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 23 rebounds. Beasley is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last six games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Xzavien McLean, who posted ten points.
Triton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gavin Matthews led the charge by shooting 75% from the field en route to 21 points. The last time Matthews' field goal percentage was this high was back in December of 2024. Jamaury Taylor was another key player, going 6-for-10 on his way to 15 points and three steals.
Harnett Central now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Triton, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.
Looking ahead, Harnett Central will venture away from home to challenge Fuquay - Varina at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Triton, they will welcome Midway at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
