Basketball Game Preview: Waskom Wildcats vs. Elysian Fields Yellowjackets

Waskom is on a five-game streak of home losses, Elysian Fields a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Friday. The Waskom Wildcats will welcome the Elysian Fields Yellowjackets at 7:15 p.m.

It was a proper cat-fight when Waskom challenged Gary on Tuesday. Waskom took a 46-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Gary.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Elysian Fields). They blew past Joaquin 85-25 on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Yellowjackets as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Waskom better keep an eye on Brandon Kennedy. He was instrumental in Elysian Fields' win, putting up 42 points. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Kennedy has scored at least a third of Elysian Fields' points. Another player making a difference was Colby Stephens, who posted 18 points.

Waskom's loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Elysian Fields, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 12-11.
