Basketball Game Preview: Village Mountaineers vs. Widefield Gladiators + Official Tickets

The Village Mountaineers will face off against the Widefield Gladiators at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

After dropping their season opener at home, Widefield is headed out to face a Mountaineers squad ready to give their home crowd a win. Village took a 66-50 bruising from The Classical Academy on Monday.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was James Driggers, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten rebounds. He has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Caleb Heath was another key player, going 6-for-13 on his way to 14 points and three blocks.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Widefield ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They secured a 78-72 W over Pueblo Centennial.

Village better keep an eye on Amari Taylor. He was instrumental in Widefield's win, shooting 53% from the field to rack up 31 points and five boards. Those 31 points gave Taylor a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Korben Jackson, who posted 11 points in addition to eight rebounds and three blocks.
