Softball Recap: Smithtown West Beats Eastport-South Manor for Their Third Straight Victory

Smithtown West had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. Everything went their way against the Eastport-South Manor Sharks as they made off with a 14-2 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Smithtown West also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Erin McDaid made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Gabrielle Krayewski was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jiselle Singh, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.

Smithtown West was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .586. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Smithtown West's record now sits at 10-7. As for Eastport-South Manor, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-2.

Smithtown West didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 1-0 win against West Babylon on the 14th. Eastport-South Manor has also already played their next matchup (against Rocky Point), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
