Basketball Recap: Everglades Prep Academy Triumphs

Everglades Prep Academy's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They came out on top against the Somerset Academy South Homestead Hurricanes by a score of 63-54. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Panther considering their 29-point performance the matchup before.

Somerset Academy South Homestead's loss came despite strong showings from Troy Michael Chambers and Armani Torriente. Michael Chambers went 5 of 7 on his way to 15 points and eight rebounds, while Torriente posted 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Hedrick, who had seven points and five rebounds.

Everglades Prep Academy's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-6. As for Somerset Academy South Homestead, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Everglades Prep Academy will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Keys Gate at 7:30 p.m. on January 15, 2025. Somerset Academy South Homestead and BridgePrep Village Green will compete for holiday cheer at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. BridgePrep Village Green will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Somerset Academy South Homestead surely won't give up without a fight.
