Baseball Game Preview: Zanesville Blue Devils vs. Philo Electrics

The Zanesville Blue Devils will face off against the Philo Electrics at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Zanesville has given up an average of 6.9 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Zanesville came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 12-2 to Mt. Vernon. The loss continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their meetings with the Yellowjackets: they've now lost three in a row.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Philo and West Muskingum meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Electrics walked away with a 9-4 win over the Tornadoes.

Garrett Tom made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Tom was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Philo's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-4 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cooper Roush, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs. He has become a key player for Philo: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-4 otherwise.

Zanesville now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Philo, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.

Zanesville beat Philo 11-7 in their previous matchup back in March of 2025. Do the Blue Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Electrics turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
