Baseball Game Preview: Defiance Bulldogs vs. St. John's Jesuit Titans

The Defiance Bulldogs will head out on the road to challenge the St. John's Jesuit Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Defiance will come into the game with an undefeated record on the line.

On Thursday, Defiance got the win against Shawnee by a conclusive 12-1. Considering the Bulldogs have won eight contests by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Brezlen Zipfel spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Defiance got a massive performance out of Noah Gomez, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Gomez has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Colt Ward, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Defiance hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, St. John's Jesuit came up short against St. Mary's Prep on Saturday and fell 6-2.

Defiance's win was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-0. As for St. John's Jesuit, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Defiance couldn't quite get it done against St. John's Jesuit in their previous matchup back in May of 2015 as they fell 9-4. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
