Baseball Game Preview: Dawson Eagles vs. Shadow Creek Sharks

The Dawson Eagles will challenge the Shadow Creek Sharks at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Dawson is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

Dawson barely beat Pasadena Memorial the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Dawson never let Pasadena Memorial get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Friday. The Eagles not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since February 25th.

Dawson got a great performance from Bennett Schnee as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Schnee a new career-low in hits (zero).

On the hitting side, Jack Dyment was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February of 2024. Zach Caldwell was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Dawson hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Shadow Creek won against Manvel on Tuesday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. Shadow Creek narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Manvel 8-6. The Sharks haven't had any issues with the Mavericks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Dawson pushed their record up to 7-6 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Shadow Creek, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5.

Dawson skirted past Shadow Creek 3-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Does Dawson have another victory up their sleeve, or will Shadow Creek turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
