Veritas Classical Academy has been on the road for three straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the School of the Woods Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Veritas Classical Academy managed to keep up with Legacy Christian Academy until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Veritas Classical Academy ended up on the wrong side of a tough 61-39 walloping at the hands of Legacy Christian Academy. Veritas Classical Academy has struggled against Legacy Christian Academy recently, as their match on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Ty Merrill, who scored 14 points. He scored a full 35.9% of Veritas Classical Academy's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jake Strahan, who scored 16 points.

Meanwhile, School of the Woods struggled with threes two weeks ago (Kingwood Christian Life Center Academy had 600% more) and sadly the final score reflected it. School of the Woods' tough 65-45 defeat to Kingwood Christian Life Center Academy might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, School of the Woods can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 908th, while Kingwood Christian Life Center Academy is ranked 272nd).

Tyler Gwinn put forth a good effort for the losing side as he dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. The matchup was his third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Zagaar, who scored 13 points.

Veritas Classical Academy now has a losing record at 1-2. As for School of the Woods, they bumped their record down to 2-6 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Friday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy match: Veritas Classical Academy haven't given up the ball easily this season, having only averaged 0 turnovers per game. It's a different story for School of the Woods, though, as they've been averaging 23.9 per game. Given Veritas Classical Academy's sizeable advantage in that area, School of the Woods will need to find a way to close that gap.
