The Abraham Lincoln Railsplitters will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Lower Moreland Lions at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Abraham Lincoln pushed their score all the way to 56 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 64-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Carver High School of Engineering & Science. While losing is never fun, Abraham Lincoln can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 357th, while Carver High School of Engineering & Science is ranked 67th).
Despite their defeat, Abraham Lincoln saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Malachi Montgomery, who scored 14 points, was perhaps the best of all. The contest was Montgomery's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Samair Peterson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, Lower Moreland lost to Quakertown on the road by a decisive 49-33 margin on Friday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lower Moreland has scored all season.
Abraham Lincoln bumped their record down to 2-6 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points per game. As for Lower Moreland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.
