Basketball Recap: Monument Valley Drops Highest Score of Season Against Round Valley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Monument Valley). They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat the Round Valley Elks 72-44. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Mustangs have posted since November 16, 2023.

Leading Monument Valley to victory were Mekhi Parrish and Jayden Tsosie. Parrish went 7 for 10 en route to 21 points, while Tsosie went 7 of 14 on his way to 20 points along with six boards and three steals. That's the most rebounds Tsosie has posted since back in November of 2024. Ralph Gray III was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine boards.

Monument Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

When it comes to explaining why Round Valley lost, don't look at Brennan Brown. Despite the final result, he went 5 for 11 on his way to 11 points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kade Latham, who posted ten points.

With the victory, Monument Valley broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-10. As for Round Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season.

Monument Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 62-59 loss against Show Low on the 16th. As for Round Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 51-47 defeat against Valley on the 16th.
