Basketball Game Preview: New Hampstead Phoenix vs. Wayne County Yellow Jackets

The New Hampstead Phoenix will head out to challenge the Wayne County Yellow Jackets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in New Hampstead's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matches.

On Wednesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, New Hampstead beat St. Andrew's 65-59.

Meanwhile, Wayne County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 66-35 loss at the hands of Warner Robins. While losing is never fun, the Yellow Jackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 335th, while the Demons are ranked 71st).

Wayne County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for New Hampstead, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Everything came up roses for New Hampstead against Wayne County in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as the team secured an 83-45 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for New Hampstead since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
