Volleyball Recap: Mauldin Takes a Loss + How To Watch

After flying high against J.L. Mann on Tuesday, Mauldin came back down to earth. The Mavericks fell just short of the Hillcrest Rams by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in August.

Mauldin wouldn't go down easily and took Hillcrest into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-20, 23-25, 23-25, 15-13.

Leading Hillcrest to victory were Addison Nelson and Alivia Elgin. Nelson had 24 digs and nine assists, while Elgin had 13 digs and three aces. Nelson is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last six games she's played.

Mauldin has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season. As for Hillcrest, their win bumped their record up to 14-4.

Mauldin wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Dorman on the 26th. As for Hillcrest, they will take on Greenwood at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
