Baseball Recap: Philipsburg-Osceola Wins Going Away Against Bishop Guilfoyle

Philipsburg-Osceola won the last time they faced Bishop Guilfoyle and things went their way on Monday too. The Mountaineers blew past the Marauders 13-0. The result was nothing new for the Mountaineers, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Archer Baughman was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sam McDonald, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Connor Guenot was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Philipsburg-Osceola and bumps their season record up to 13-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Bishop Guilfoyle, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.

Philipsburg-Osceola will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against DuBois at 4:30 p.m. The Beavers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Mountaineers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Bishop Guilfoyle does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
