After losing to Smith County the last time they met, Cumberland County decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Jets came out on top against the Owls by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. The game was the first time the Jets have beaten the Owls on their court since August 16, 2022.

The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 23-25, 25-22, 25-10.

Tessa Hayes paced Cumberland County's offense, picking up 14 kills. Hayes got some help from Laila Howard and her 35 assists. Howard was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Cumberland County has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. As for Smith County, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Cumberland County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Gordonsville on the 21st. Smith County has also already played their next contest (against Monterey), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
