Basketball Recap: Arcanum Comes Up Short

Arcanum was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 48-44 heartbreaker at the hands of the Fort Recovery Indians. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Arcanum lost, don't look at Cameron Ball. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. Ball has been hot recently, having posted nine or more boards the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Flatter, who posted 17 points.

Even though they lost, Arcanum smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Arcanum's loss dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Fort Recovery, their win ended an 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-13.

Arcanum will be playing at home against Union City at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Arcanum is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.8 points per game this season. Fort Recovery has already played their next contest (against Versailles), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
