Football Recap: Josh Moore Leads American Leadership Academy-Johnston's Defense on Friday + How To Watch

The American Leadership Academy-Johnston Patriots came up short against the East Carteret Mariners on Friday, falling 41-21. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, American Leadership Academy-Johnston still got an impressive performance from Anthony Jimenez, who rushed for 139 yards and one TD while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. Jimenez is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 139 every time he's taken the field this season. Kegian Blanchard got in on the action too, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Even if they lost, American Leadership Academy-Johnston's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Josh Moore was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. American Leadership Academy-Johnston got some further help from Elijah Fulton: he picked up a sack and made 13 total tackles.

East Carteret's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luke McIntosh, who threw for 128 yards and three touchdowns while completing 81.2% of his passes. What's more, McIntosh racked up 142.7 passer rating, the most he's had since back in October of 2024. East Carteret's leading receiver Jackson Greene was McIntosh's top target yet again, picking up 97 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

American Leadership Academy-Johnston's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for East Carteret, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

American Leadership Academy-Johnston has already played their next contest, a 41-6 victory against Jordan-Matthews on the 26th. As for East Carteret, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Southside at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. The Mariners will be up against the Seahawks' rather soft defense (which has allowed 35.2 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
