Soccer Recap: Waynesville Comes Up Short + How To Watch

If Waynesville was riding high fresh off their 5-1 takedown of Legacy Christian Academy on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Spartans fell just short of the Oakwood Lumberjacks by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. Waynesville were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Oakwood apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Sam Papanek and Andrew Stupp scored both of Waynesville's goals, bringing their combined season tally to five goals.

Waynesville's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 6-6. As for Oakwood, they pushed their record up to 9-3-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Coming up, Waynesville will head out to face off against Yellow Springs at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Oakwood, they will look to defend their home pitch on Saturday against Mariemont at 12:15 p.m. Oakwood's defense better be ready for this one: Mariemont have averaged an impressive 3.6 goals per game this season.
