Basketball Recap: Munday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Munday waltzed into their game on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They put the hurt on the Benjamin Mustangs with a sharp 65-40 victory. Given the Moguls' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 653rd, while the Mustangs are ranked 1405th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Munday got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jariyis Williams out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. Williams has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Mance Phillips, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 15 points.

Munday has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Benjamin, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-7.

Munday will face off against Northside at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Benjamin, they will square off against Knox City at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
