Softball Recap: Apex Victorious

Apex won the last time they faced Union Pines and things went their way on Thursday too. The Apex Cougars came out on top in a nail-biter against the Union Pines Vikings, sneaking past 6-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.

Audrey Mulaski made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Mulaski was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Leah Kendall, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-2. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played dating back to last season. Lauren McMahon was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base.

Apex's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Union Pines, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Apex will take on New Bern at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. New Bern will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Apex surely won't give up without a fight. As for Union Pines, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Scotland at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
