Basketball Recap: Stone Gets the Win

Stone entered their tilt with Northeast Jones on Tuesday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They came within a single point of losing the streak, but they secured a 52-51 W against the Tigers. This was a revenge game for the Tomcats: when they faced off against the Tigers back in January, they had to take a 62-60 loss.

Stone's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brody Farmer led the charge by dropping a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards. Those 12 rebounds gave Farmer a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cleon Johnson Jr., who posted 14 points.

Stone smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in eight consecutive contests.

Stone's victory bumped their record up to 15-13. As for Northeast Jones, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 16-12 record.

Coming up, Stone is taking a road trip to face off against Wayne County at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tomcats will need to watch out since the War EaglesLady War Eagles have now posted at least 55 points in their last three games. As for Northeast Jones, they will square off against Vancleave at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 50.82 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
