Basketball Recap: Malvern Prep Gets Big Win over Higher-Ranked Pennington

Malvern Prep won the last time they faced Pennington and things went their way on Saturday too. The Malvern Prep Friars had just enough and edged the Pennington Red Hawks out 55-52. The win was all the more spectacular given the Friars' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 55th in Pennsylvania, while the Red Hawks are ranked ninth in New Jersey).

Malvern Prep is also on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Pennington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Malvern Prep has already played their next game (against Springside), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Pennington will challenge Peddie at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
