Heritage is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They blew past Westwood 17-0. The match marked Heritage's most dominant win of the season.
Kelly Brown made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Brown was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with three runs.
In other batting news, Heritage let Jayleigh Melendez and Chloey Dieter run wild. Melendez went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Dieter went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs Dieter has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Amanda Piccione, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Sebastian River, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Heritage with a sharp 15-0 victory on Wednesday. Considering the Sharks have won eight contests by more than eight runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Heritage, Sebastian River also got a great game from a two-way player: Kiera Carow. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Carow was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Sebastian River got a massive performance out of Madisyn Darling, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Rily Biggers was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Sebastian River hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive games.
Heritage's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-15. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Sebastian River, their record is now 14-10.
Heritage might still be hurting after the 15-0 loss they got from Sebastian River in their previous meeting on Wednesday. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
