Baseball Game Preview: La Salle Academy Rams vs. Mt. Hope Huskies

The La Salle Academy Rams will square off against the Mt. Hope Huskies at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither La Salle Academy nor Mt. Hope posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

La Salle Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: East Providence, who was ranked ninth at the time (La Salle Academy was ranked fourth). The Rams fell just short of the Townies by a score of 3-1 on Monday. The Rams' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

La Salle Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayce Bessette, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Bessette has hit this season.

Moses Brown hit Mt. Hope with a four-run first inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Huskies lost 11-1 to the Quakers.

Mt. Hope has also been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season. As for La Salle Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 14-5.

Mt. Hope's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: La Salle Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. It's a different story for Mt. Hope, though, as they've only averaged .224. Will they be able to contain La Salle Academy's hitters?
