Basketball Preview: Skyview Wolverines vs. Green Mountain Rams
The Skyview Wolverines will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Green Mountain Rams at 7:00 p.m. Skyview will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
Last Wednesday, Skyview came up short against the Pumas and fell 58-45.
Despite their loss, Skyview saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Nevaeh Lucero, who scored eight points along with five steals, was perhaps the best of all. Lucero has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jada Kemm, who scored 15 points.
Green Mountain aren't just finding sucess at home, as their game on Saturday extended their overall winning streak to six. They walked away with a 41-29 victory over Evergreen.
Green Mountain's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kantyn Pearson, who scored ten points. Julia Schafer was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Skyview's loss dropped their record down to 14-4. As for Green Mountain, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Skyview have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Green Mountain struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.3 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Skyview couldn't quite finish off the Rams in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 and fell 53-50. Thankfully for Skyview, Jayda Maves (who dropped a double-double on 35 points and 18 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
