Preview: Sulphur Bluff Bears vs. Yantis Owls
Sulphur Bluff is 10-0 against Yantis since December of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Sulphur Bluff Bears will be playing in front of their home fans against the Yantis Owls at 6:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
On Tuesday, Sulphur Bluff lost to Bloomburg on the road by a decisive 54-35 margin. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Sulphur Bluff in their matchups with Bloomburg: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite their loss, Sulphur Bluff saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Zaylee Peyton, who scored 17 points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Ana Servin, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Yantis, who are still winless after their 16th game. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 27-5 walloping at the hands of Avery on Wednesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Yantis has scored all season.
Sulphur Bluff has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-17 record this season. As for Yantis, their loss was their tenth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-16.
Everything came up roses for Sulphur Bluff against Yantis in their previous matchup on January 2nd as the squad secured a 50-17 victory. With Sulphur Bluff ahead 32-8 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
