Football Recap: Butler Comes Up Short

Butler fell victim to Providence Day and their airtight defense on Friday. They had to suffer through a 39-0 loss at the hands of the Chargers. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 27th, while the Chargers are ranked second).

Tyler Druzbik threw for 85 yards on eight of 13 attempts. Gabe Wilson was his top target, picking up 42 receiving yards. On the ground, DeMaurion Thomas-Wright rushed for 74 yards.

Providence Day's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ethan Dempsey led the charge by picking up 111 receiving yards and two TDs. Dempsey got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 81 yards. Zaid Lott was another key passer, throwing for 160 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 15 passes.

Butler's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Providence Day, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Butler didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 27-21 loss against Providence on the 19th. As for Providence Day, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 55-34 win against Rabun Gap-Nacoochee on the 19th.
