Brea Olinda and Canyon are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2022, but likely not for long. The Wildcats will challenge the Comanches at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

Brea Olinda made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Pacifica, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Wildcats fell just short of the Mariners by a score of 6-4 on Friday. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Canyon, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They never let Banning get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory on Saturday. The matchup marked the Comanches' most dominant win of the season.

Spencer Mayfield looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Camden Goetz, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Another player making a difference was John Somerndike, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

The victory got Canyon back to even at 12-12. As for Brea Olinda, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-14.

Brea Olinda was able to grind out a solid win over Canyon in their previous matchup back in March, winning 5-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
