Football Recap: Pearland Piles Up the Points Against Sam Rayburn + How To Watch

Pearland strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They breezed past the Sam Rayburn Texans to the tune of 64-0. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Oilers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 67th, while the Texans are ranked 897th).

Pearland was led to victory by Ja'Maurey Champion and Royce Swan. Champion rushed for 61 yards and three scores on only seven carries, while Swan rushed for 54 yards and three TDs on only seven carries. The Oilers also got help from Jordan Hernandez, who showed off his sure hands for 83 receiving yards.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Pearland, adding 19 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Ed Smith, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Pearland's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Sam Rayburn, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Pearland is set to square off against their familiar foe Alvin at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Sam Rayburn will face off against rival South Houston at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
