Preview: South Eugene Axe vs. Crater Comets
South Eugene is 0-3 against Crater since September of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The South Eugene Axe will be playing in front of their home fans against the Crater Comets at 7:00 p.m. South Eugene is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home.
Last Friday, South Eugene suffered a rough 41-20 loss at the hands of Eagle Point.
Meanwhile, Crater sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 26-24 win over Churchill on Friday.
Valentin Rodriguez had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 202 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Higginson, who rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown.
South Eugene's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Crater, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 3-5 record this season.
South Eugene was dealt a bruising 54-6 defeat at the hands of Crater in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Will South Eugene have more luck at home instead of on the road?
