Basketball Game Preview: Ingomar Falcons vs. Walnut Wildcats

Ingomar has gone 7-1 against Walnut recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Ingomar Falcons will square off against the Walnut Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Ingomar is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They blew past Charleston 71-10. The win was nothing new for the Falcons as they're now sitting on seven straight.

Macie Phifer was her usual excellent self, going 11 of 14 on her way to 26 points. That's the most points she has posted since back in December of 2024. Cadie Jo Byrd was another key player, putting up ten points and three steals.

Ingomar smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in six consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Walnut against Union on Monday as the squad secured a 64-11 victory. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 229th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Walnut's win bumped their record up to 27-4. As for Ingomar, their victory bumped their record up to 28-2.

Everything went Ingomar's way against Walnut in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as Ingomar made off with a 65-43 win. Does Ingomar have another victory up their sleeve, or will Walnut turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
