Jones County scored the most points they've had this season on Saturday, but it wasn't enough. They fell to the Southwest Patriots 71-66. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Greyhounds this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 81-53 back in November of 2024.

Southwest was led to victory by Brandon Ashley and C.J. Howard. Ashley went 6 of 7 from beyond the arc on his way to 31 points, while Howard went 6 for 11 on his way to 19 points and four steals. Ashley is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Chase Dupree was another key player, putting up eight points along with six assists and five boards.

Jones County's loss was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-9. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Southwest, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-1.

Jones County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 71-60 defeat against Putnam County on the 4th. As for Southwest, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 69-47 victory against Dodge County on the 3rd.
