Recap: Summit Tigers vs. Basalt Longhorns

The Summit Tigers pushed their score all the way to 63 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 64-63 to Basalt. Summit has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emilio Jain, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Jain scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hank Chabot, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Leading Basalt to victory were Elias Schendler and Taylor Hays. Schendler dropped a double-double on 13 points and 23 rebounds, while Hays scored 26 points along with six rebounds. The matchup was Schendler's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Calum Inglis was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Summit now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Basalt, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Summit will be playing at home against Coal Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Coal Ridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Saturday. Basalt's road trip will continue as they head out to face Rifle at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th. Rifle is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
