Basketball Recap: Poultney Blue Devils vs. Twin Valley Wildcats
After flying high against Leland & Gray last Monday, Poultney came back down to earth. The Poultney Blue Devils opened the new year with a less-than-successful 60-53 defeat to the Twin Valley Wildcats. The Blue Devils have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Twin Valley found their leader in sophomore Brayden Brown, who almost dropped a double-double on 27 points and nine rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Brown has scored at least a third of Twin Valley's points. Steve Oyer was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten boards.
Poultney's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Twin Valley, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Poultney will venture away from home to face off against Grace Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Twin Valley, they are taking a road trip to take on Bellows Falls at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
