Baseball Game Preview: Hillsboro Hawks vs. DeSoto Dragons

For the second straight game, Hillsboro will face off against DeSoto. The Hawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Dragons at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

While Hillsboro's victory against DeSoto wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Hawks had just enough and edged out the Dragons 7-5. The win continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Dragons: they've now won five in a row.

Easton Day made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Hillsboro is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-4 otherwise. Day was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Max Partney was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Aidan Roland was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for DeSoto and nudges their season record down to 2-5. As for Hillsboro, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
