Basketball Game Preview: West Laurens Raiders vs. Academy of Richmond County Musketeers

The West Laurens Raiders will face off against the Academy of Richmond County Musketeers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. West Laurens knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Academy of Richmond County likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, West Laurens was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 60-55 to Cross Creek. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 217th, while the Razorbacks are ranked 26th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Academy of Richmond County). They took their match on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 76-45 win over Aquinas. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Musketeers have posted since February 2, 2024.

The win made it two in a row for Academy of Richmond County and bumps their season record up to 10-13. As for West Laurens, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-12.
