Basketball Game Preview: Culver City Centaurs vs. Villa Park Spartans

Having just played yesterday, the Culver City Centaurs will jump right back in to play the Villa Park Spartans at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Culver City knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 matches -- so hopefully Villa Park likes a good challenge.

Culver City is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Centennial: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Culver City blew Centennial out of the water with a 78-24 final score. With the Centaurs ahead 47-12 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Meanwhile, Villa Park was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 79-73 to Lakewood. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game two weeks ago (64), the Spartans still had to take the loss.

Culver City pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.6 points per game. As for Villa Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-4.

Culver City and Villa Park were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in December of 2019, but Culver City came up empty-handed after a 62-61 loss. Can Culver City avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
