Volleyball Recap: Buckholts Starts off Right with Win over Waelder

Buckholts had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on the Waelder Wildcats with a sharp 3-0 win on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Badgers in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won four in a row.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Buckholts was: they took every set by at least 11 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-6, 25-14.

Buckholts got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Caylee Velez out in front who had nine digs and seven aces. Velez has been hot, having posted two or more aces the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Gaberella Vega, who had eight digs and six aces.

They weren't the only good server: Buckholts was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 22 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Buckholts wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Tournament Opponent on the 14th. As for Waelder, they will challenge Pettus at 12:00 p.m. on the 22nd.
